An interesting Russian oval enamel plaque depicting seated figure, possibly St Nicholas flanked by Mary and John the Baptist. The plaque is possibly 17th Century, finely painted and later set in an english silver oval box which has a makers mark of BT (Blackburn & Tysall ), the box has a silver gilt interior and is hinged.
The enamel plaque is cracked and has some small chips which are missing at the very top. The pictures clearly show the faults. The box itself has a dent approximately 3cm wide.
